Call for Papers
The University of Vienna, Department for Islamic-Theological Studies, in cooperation with the University of A Coruña, Faculty of Law, is organizing the international conference “Jewish-Muslim Relations in Europe: Past, Present and Future Perspectives” in Córdoba from 20 – 22 October 2017.
We are soliciting abstracts for conference papers, which will ultimately be published as chapters in an edited volume.
In particular, we are interested in papers that discuss the topic ‘Jewish-Muslim Relations in Europe’ in relation to at least one of the following aspects:
- Approaches to defining plurality, pluralism and tolerance
- Representations and constructions of the ‘other’
- Religious education and religion/theology
- Analyses from a sociology-of-religion perspective
- Theoretical discussion of the terms and concepts of religious discrimination/anti-Semitism/anti-Judaism/Islamophobia/anti-Muslim racism/anti-Islamic hate
- Comparative migration, integration and identity
- Structural policy perspectives
Please send proposed titles and abstracts of roughly 300 words, including a short bibliography of at least four sources, by July 15, 2017 to: dominique.bauer@univie.ac.at.
There is no participation fee. The participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation expenses.
The language of the conference is English.
